Police Pursuit Ends in Fatal Crash in Indianapolis

A police pursuit that began in Henry County ended in a fatal crash at the intersection of East Washington Street and Mitthoefer Road in Indianapolis. The chase involved multiple police agencies and began when Dewuan Hampton, 33, fled a traffic stop in a maroon Dodge Durango. The vehicle was pursued through several counties, exiting I-70 in Indianapolis, before colliding with a Ford Mustang and a BMW, flipping multiple times. Hampton was ejected from the SUV and died at the scene, while three other occupants were hospitalized. Police found several firearms and ammunition among the debris, suggesting they fell out during the crash. The intersection was closed for several hours as authorities investigated, with no arrests made so far.
