The Manipur government has declared a two-day closure of all government and private colleges on September 11th and 12th in response to escalating student protests demanding peace and the dismissal of key security officials. These protests intensified following violent clashes with security forces, resulting in injuries to over 40 students. Additionally, the government has imposed a temporary ban on internet services in five valley districts to prevent the spread of disinformation and maintain public order. The ban is set to last until September 15th, having initially been announced for the entire state. Protests also saw students from Manipur University burning an effigy of Union Home Minister Amit Shah as they rallied against the current law enforcement leadership. The Inspector General of Police has indicated that evidence related to a drone bombing case will be handed over to central agencies for further investigation.
