Oceanside Police Arrest Suspect in Series of 14 Arson Fires

Authorities in Oceanside arrested a suspect early Saturday morning in connection with a series of about 14 small brush fires intentionally set in the Loma Alta neighborhood near El Camino Real and Oceanside Boulevard. The arrest occurred at approximately 1:20 a.m. after targeted surveillance led investigators to catch the individual in the act of setting a fire. Both the Oceanside Police and Fire Departments collaborated closely on the investigation, which began after the fires started around July 30, and they believe the suspect acted alone. The identity of the individual has not been released, and the investigation remains active as officials continue to review evidence. Oceanside Fire Division Chief Blake Dorse praised the swift and coordinated efforts of both agencies for safeguarding the community. Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to contact local police or fire officials.
