The Bombay High Court has extended an ad-interim stay for two weeks on a special court's order allowing Indrani Mukherjea, the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, to travel to Spain and the UK. This decision follows a challenge from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which expressed concerns that Mukherjea might flee, given her UK nationality. The special court had previously permitted her to travel for ten days within three months, under the condition that she report to the Indian Embassy and furnish a security deposit. Mukherjea claims she needs to attend to property matters, but the CBI argues that these could be handled remotely, without her presence. Mukherjea has been out on bail since May 2022, after being incarcerated since her arrest in 2015 for the murder of her daughter, Sheena Bora, in 2012. The case gained attention after it was revealed in 2015 when her driver confessed during an unrelated police interrogation.
