Blue Jays Take 2-0 ALDS Lead
The Toronto Blue Jays took a 2–0 lead in the best-of-five ALDS after routing the Yankees 10–1 in Game 1 and winning Game 2, 13–7, at Rogers Centre. In Game 1, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 3-for-4 with his first career postseason home run and a sacrifice fly, Alejandro Kirk homered twice, and Kevin Gausman earned the win, allowing one run over 5 2/3 innings. Rookie Trey Yesavage dominated Game 2, striking out 11 over five-plus innings with an electric splitter, and the Blue Jays hit five home runs as they built a lead as large as 12–0 before holding off a late New York rally. Guerrero delivered the fourth-inning blast that was the first grand slam in Blue Jays postseason history and finished Game 2 3-for-5; he is 6-for-9 with two homers and six RBIs in the series. The series now shifts to the Bronx for Game 3 on Tuesday. Nathan Lukes and Andrés Giménez also provided key offensive contributions in Game 1.
