According to Lady Elizabeth Anson, the cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, the late monarch thought that Meghan Markle's wedding dress was "too white" for a divorcee. Ingrid Seward, the former editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, said in an extract from her book, My Mother and I, that the Queen considered Markle's dress to be improper given her divorced status. "In the monarch's view, it was not appropriate for a divorcee getting remarried in church to look quite so flamboyantly virginal," Seward said in the book. Some view the Duchess of Sussex's wedding dress as a break from tradition, as Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge both opted for wedding dresses with sleeves.
