Dominican National Charged with Drug Trafficking and Firearms Offenses

Leonardo Andujar Sanchez, a 28-year-old Dominican national, was arrested on December 27 at a Quality Inn in Revere, Massachusetts, where he was living in a state-funded migrant shelter. He faces multiple serious charges, including illegal possession of an AR-15 rifle, ten firearms-related offenses, and trafficking nearly five kilograms of fentanyl with a street value of around $1 million. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged an immigration detainer against Sanchez, confirming he illegally entered the U.S. within the past year. Local authorities discovered the weapons and drugs during a search warrant execution, highlighting public safety concerns. The case has drawn significant attention, leading to statements from local officials emphasizing the dangers posed by illegal firearms and drugs in the community. Sanchez was arraigned and is being held without bail, with a hearing scheduled for January 2.
