Nearly 70 Palestinian filmmakers, including notable directors Hany Abu-Assad and Elia Suleiman, have signed an open letter condemning Hollywood for 'racism and censorship' against Palestinians, which they argue has contributed to the ongoing devastation in Gaza. The letter responds to mounting pressure following the Emmy nomination of Bisan Atef Owda’s documentary 'It’s Bisan From Gaza and I’m Still Alive', amid allegations of her ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a designated terrorist organization. Filmmakers criticized the entertainment industry for perpetuating anti-Palestinian narratives and called for solidarity among international colleagues. Concurrently, around 300 filmmakers at the Venice Film Festival protested two Israeli films they allege contribute to 'artwashing' of the ongoing violence against Palestinians.
