Lexington Church Shooting Tied to Domestic Violence
On July 13, 2025, Guy House, a 47-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history, initiated a shooting spree in Lexington, Kentucky, that started with the serious wounding of a state trooper during a traffic stop near Blue Grass Airport. House then carjacked a vehicle and drove to Richmond Road Baptist Church, where he fatally shot Beverly Gumm, 72, the pastor’s wife, and her daughter Christina Combs, 32, after learning the mother of his children, his intended target, was not present. He also wounded two men, including the church’s pastor and Combs’ husband. House was shot and killed by police at the scene. Authorities noted House was scheduled for a domestic violence hearing the next day and had a connection to the church victims. Kentucky officials have praised first responders and called for community support for those impacted.
