Van Gisbergen Wins Fifth Straight Road-Course Race

Shane van Gisbergen won the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval for his fifth consecutive road/street-course victory and sixth NASCAR Cup Series win, prevailing after staying off pit road as pit strategy and tire wear reshaped the closing laps. He led a race-high total of laps and crossed the line more than 15 seconds ahead, with Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell finishing second and third. Playoff drama saw Joey Logano’s late pit call allow him to advance to the Round of 8, while Ross Chastain was eliminated after a last-lap spin and earlier pit-road and tire issues. Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace and Austin Cindric were also knocked out of title contention following the Round of 12. Despite dominating road courses, van Gisbergen has struggled on ovals this season but recorded his first oval top-10 at Kansas, and he is one road-course win shy of Jeff Gordon’s six-race streak with a chance next at Circuit of the Americas.
