Man Arrested After Aurora Woman Kidnapped, Chased

Shane McSwane, a 28-year-old from Fort Collins, was arrested early Monday after allegedly carjacking and kidnapping an Aurora woman late Sunday night. The victim was abducted after stopping for a traffic accident in Aurora, with McSwane reportedly threatening her and driving her for nearly four hours while making repeated sexual comments and physical advances. The incident came to authorities' attention when the victim's mother reported the kidnapping and law enforcement traced the victim's phone to a Circle K in Colorado City, where McSwane had allegedly committed a robbery. Deputies from Pueblo and Huerfano counties attempted to stop the vehicle, but McSwane fled, endangering other drivers by crossing medians and speeding. The chase ended with stop sticks and a PIT maneuver, after which McSwane was apprehended at gunpoint. He faces charges including second-degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, unlawful sexual contact, and vehicular eluding, while the victim was rescued shaken but unharmed.
