Amazon MGM Secures Kevin Costner, Jake Gyllenhaal Film Rights

Amazon MGM Studios has acquired the long-gestating rights to the dramedy "Honeymoon with Harry," starring Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal. The film, based on an unpublished novel by Bart Baker and scripted by Dan Fogelman, tells the story of a man who, after his fiancée dies two days before their wedding, embarks on a honeymoon with his future father-in-law, played by Costner. Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who previously collaborated with Fogelman on projects like "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "Paradise," are directing the film. The project has a complex development history spanning over 20 years, with various notable talents previously attached, including Paul Haggis, Vince Vaughn, Jack Nicholson, Jonathan Demme, Bradley Cooper, and Robert De Niro. Producers include Fogelman, Mike Karz of Gulfstream Pictures, and Jennifer Salke, marking her producing debut under her new Sullivan Street Productions banner. The film is expected to blend humor and emotional depth, exploring themes of loss and unexpected bonds.
