Light Aircraft Crash KZN Claims Three Lives Including Student Pilot
A light aircraft that took off from Virginia Airport in Durban went missing over KwaZulu-Natal and was later found crashed near Greytown, with all three people on board confirmed dead, including student pilot Nqobile Biyela. The aircraft was last tracked flying over Ladysmith and was part of a group caught in bad weather while en route to Pretoria. Authorities, including the Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre, have handed over the investigation to the South African Police Service's Accident and Incident Investigation Division and the South African Civil Aviation Authority. The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport expressed condolences to the families, particularly reaching out to Ms. Zama Biyela, mother of the student pilot. Officials, alongside media personnel, are actively supporting the grieving families. The cause of the crash remains under official investigation.
