Tarantino Produces Cliff Booth Sequel Directed by Fincher

Quentin Tarantino has explained why he is not directing 'The Adventures of Cliff Booth,' the sequel to his 2019 film 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,' despite writing the script and initially planning to direct it himself. He revealed that he lost enthusiasm for the project because it felt like retracing familiar ground, lacking creative challenges and uncharted territory, which he desires for his final film. Instead, David Fincher has taken over directing duties, with Tarantino remaining involved as a producer. The film, produced by Netflix, has a budget around $200 million, making it Tarantino's most expensive project to date, and its theatrical release remains uncertain given Netflix's typical release strategy. Tarantino acknowledged that while Netflix might offer a limited theatrical run and screenings in major cities to boost Oscar prospects, the platform prioritizes streaming over box office revenue. The cast will include Brad Pitt reprising his role as Cliff Booth, alongside an ensemble including Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Elizabeth Debicki, and others.
