Seven Indicted in Maryland Bank Jugging Spree Across Five Counties
Seven individuals have been indicted in Maryland for their involvement in two separate criminal gangs responsible for a series of violent "bank jugging" robberies targeting victims who had recently withdrawn cash from banks such as Navy Federal Credit Union, Bank of America, Capitol One, and Wells Fargo. The crimes, occurring between August 2023 and July 2024 across multiple counties including Anne Arundel, Prince George’s, Howard, Charles, and Montgomery, involved armed carjackings, attempted murders, armed robberies, assaults, and firearms offenses. The first gang committed 20 robberies from August 2023 to January 2024 before arrests disrupted their operation, after which a second gang carried out 14 similar robberies from May to July 2024. The groups used escalating violence, including modified firearms and shooting at or near victims to force compliance, resulting in over $155,000 stolen from at least 34 victims. Attorney General Anthony Brown emphasized the commitment to dismantling these violent rings to protect Maryland residents and enhance public safety. All seven suspects are currently in custody as investigations revealed a disturbing trend of stalking victims from banks to parking lots and even following them home.
