Burkina Faso Qualifies for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations

Burkina Faso has become the first team to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco after a 2-0 victory against Burundi, securing a top-two finish in Group L with 10 points from four matches. Mohamed Konate opened the scoring early in the match, followed by a stoppage-time penalty from Bertrand Traore, who recently transferred to Ajax from Aston Villa. This win follows their previous match against Burundi, where they won 4-1, with both games held in Ivory Coast due to the lack of international-standard stadiums in Burkina Faso and Burundi. Burkina Faso's qualification marks their 14th AFCON appearance, having previously been runners-up in 2013. Senegal could also join Burkina Faso in the tournament if they secure a win against Malawi in their upcoming match.
