Ex-Team GB Hockey Star Jailed for 28 Years

Philip Hamer, a former Team GB ice hockey player and TV soap extra, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for the rape and sexual abuse of seven girls over a 13-year period. Hamer, who has appeared on shows like Hollyoaks and Coronation Street, was found guilty of 41 sexual offences, including rape, sexual assault, and grooming using social media. His victims, aged as young as 11, were manipulated into sending explicit images and were subjected to abuse, often in secluded locations. The court described Hamer as 'highly manipulative,' noting his distorted view of children as sexual objects. Victims and their families expressed relief at the sentencing, which also includes an eight-year extended license period.
