373 Horses Nominated for 2025 Triple Crown Series

A total of 373 three-year-old Thoroughbreds have been nominated for this year's Triple Crown series, representing a 7.8% increase from last year's 346. This year's nominations are led by champion 2-year-old male Citizen Bull, with 60 nominees having already won stakes races. Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher has the largest contingent with 32 nominations, followed by notable trainers Bob Baffert (21) and Brad Cox (14). For the first time, a record 69 Japan-based horses are included, surpassing last year's record of 47. The Triple Crown series begins with the Kentucky Derby on May 3, followed by the Preakness Stakes on May 17 and the Belmont Stakes on June 7. Horses not nominated during the early phase can still enter by paying a late fee of $6,000 by April 7.
