Chris Brown Faces 2026 London Assault Trial

Chris Brown, the Grammy-winning R&B singer, pleaded not guilty at London's Southwark Crown Court to charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent after an alleged unprovoked bottle attack on music producer Abraham Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair in February 2023. Co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu also pleaded not guilty to the same charge. Prosecutors allege the incident, partially captured on surveillance, involved Brown striking Diaw with a bottle and proceeding to punch and kick him. Brown was arrested in Manchester in May 2025, held for nearly a week, and released on £5 million ($6.7 million) bail with strict conditions, including surrendering his passport. Brown remains free to continue his international tour, with his next court appearance set for July 11 and the trial scheduled for October 26, 2026. If he breaches bail, he risks forfeiting the security fee.
