Los Angeles Bus Hijacking Leaves One Dead

A gunman hijacked a Los Angeles city bus early Wednesday, leading to a police chase that lasted over an hour and resulted in the death of one passenger. The incident began around 12:45 a.m. when the bus driver activated a panic button after the suspect, armed with a gun, boarded the bus. Police pursued the hijacker as he held the driver at gunpoint, deploying spike strips to eventually stop the bus at a downtown intersection. Despite attempts to communicate with the suspect, a SWAT team was called in and used flash-bang devices to apprehend him. The victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was taken to a hospital but later pronounced dead. The bus driver and another passenger were unharmed, and authorities have not revealed the suspect's motive.
