HBO Max to Stream Weapons Oct. 24

Zach Cregger’s horror thriller Weapons will stream exclusively on HBO Max on October 24 and is reported to air on HBO’s linear channel the following night at 8:00 p.m. ET (one outlet lists an Oct. 26 airing). Written and directed by Cregger, the film follows the terrifying mystery in which nearly an entire elementary school class inexplicably wakes at 2:17 a.m. and vanishes, leaving a single child behind. Weapons stars Julia Garner, Josh Brolin (who also executive produced), Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, Amy Madigan and Cary Christopher. Produced by Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules for New Line Cinema, the film opened in August to a roughly $43 million domestic debut and has grossed about $266 million worldwide. The movie follows Cregger’s breakout Barbarian, and the director is also attached to a forthcoming Resident Evil adaptation.
