Mackinac Island Plans 23 New Experiences for 2025 Season

Fire Island Pines, a historic LGBTQ destination off New York's Long Island, is undergoing a comprehensive transformation of its central commercial district, now branded as The Waterfront at the Pines. Tryst Hospitality is leading the redevelopment, with the former Botel hotel being reimagined as The Tryst Fire Island, featuring 30 redesigned guest rooms with ensuite bathrooms, modernized interiors, and upgraded amenities. The project aims to create a seamless 'campus-style' experience connecting the hotel with key venues like The Blue Whale bar, The Pavilion nightclub, The Canteen, and a refreshed pool deck with expanded public access and events. Additional improvements include sustainable landscaping, eco-conscious policies, significant upgrades to staff housing, and enhanced accessibility features. The redesign is intended to honor the area's legacy as a queer haven while elevating the visitor experience for a new generation. The revitalized district is expected to open later this year, bringing fresh energy, modern comforts, and a renewed social hub to Fire Island Pines.
