BBC Radio WM Celebrates Local Heroes

At the BBC Radio WM's Make a Difference awards held at the Birmingham Hippodrome, local heroes were honored across eight categories, including a binman who saved three lives from a fire and a businessman who boosted his town's economy with a jacket potato venture. Marva and Lionel Warmington received the carer award for fostering over 150 children, while Raven's Rescue won the animal award for its dedication to helping animals in need. Concurrently, the BBC Radio CWR's Make a Difference awards celebrated eight heroes in Coventry and Warwickshire, including Godfrey Mubiru, an asylum seeker who won the volunteer award for his extensive work with Carriers of Hope. Sherril Donaldson was recognized for her 30 years of community support through the ArawaK Community Trust. These awards, part of a nationwide initiative, aim to highlight the contributions of individuals and groups who make a positive impact in their communities.
