U.S. Labor Department, SBA Sign Agreement to Boost Domestic Manufacturing
The U.S. Department of Labor and the Small Business Administration have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance collaboration and data-sharing aimed at revitalizing American manufacturing. This partnership focuses on expanding programs like Registered Apprenticeships and Veteran Employment Training to cultivate a skilled workforce that supports domestic producers, 98% of whom are small businesses. Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer emphasized that under President Trump's leadership, the administration is working to restore America as the world's manufacturing superpower by attracting investments and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler highlighted the importance of capital and contracting support for small manufacturers, describing them as poised for growth under the America First agenda. The agreement also includes cross-agency training initiatives and streamlined resource delivery to accelerate support for manufacturers of all sizes. Together, these efforts aim to usher in a new Golden Age of American manufacturing aligned with President Trump’s agenda to restore industry, jobs, and economic independence.
