U.S. Educators Arrested for Sexual Misconduct

Several educators across the United States have been arrested and charged with sexual offenses involving students. Melissa Curtis, a former middle school teacher in Maryland, was sentenced to one year in prison for repeatedly engaging in sexual acts with a 14-year-old student. In New Jersey, Douglas Bollinger, a former acting teacher, admitted to having inappropriate sexual contact with a student and is facing lifelong parole supervision. Stacey Ray Lancaster from New Hampshire was charged with attempted sex trafficking of a minor while on school grounds, and Artem Moyer from Virginia was charged with indecent liberties with a child. In Missouri, Carissa Jane Smith allegedly offered money, alcohol, and marijuana to students for sex, and in Tennessee, Jason Childers was charged with sexual battery by an authority figure. Additionally, Yessenia Navarro Garcia, a choir teacher in California, was arrested for having a months-long sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
