Tampa Bay Rays Recall Pitcher Joe Boyle From Triple-A

The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled right-handed pitcher Joe Boyle from Triple-A Durham to bolster their pitching staff during a challenging stretch of games. Boyle, who has excelled in Triple-A with a 1.66 ERA and a strong strikeout-to-walk ratio, previously made a spot start for the Rays in April, pitching five shutout innings against the Atlanta Braves. With the Rays facing a demanding schedule of 10 games in as many days, Boyle could either join the starting rotation or be utilized out of the bullpen to address recent pitching struggles. To accommodate Boyle's return, left-handed reliever Joe Rock was optioned to Triple-A. The Rays have been relying on a consistent starting rotation, but recent bullpen difficulties have prompted this roster move. Boyle, a key part of a trade last winter, is expected to contribute significantly as the team heads into the All-Star break.
