Mother, Infant Die in Texas River Incident, Two Children Survive

Crystal Njepu, 39, and her one-year-old daughter Annah died after Njepu suffered a suspected medical emergency while driving and their SUV plunged into the San Jacinto River in Channelview, Texas. Two other children, aged five and seven, survived after a bystander jumped into the river, broke a window, and rescued them from the sinking vehicle. Authorities believe Njepu's medical condition caused the crash, noting that surveillance footage showed the vehicle stopping and starting before accelerating into the water. Dive teams later recovered Njepu and her infant daughter, who were both pronounced dead at the scene. The surviving children are now being cared for by family, and a GoFundMe has been set up to support them and cover funeral expenses. Investigators continue to look into the circumstances leading up to the incident.
