Man Suffers Serious Firework Injuries in Seattle Chinatown Assault
A 23-year-old man was seriously injured in Seattle's Chinatown-International District when a firework was thrown at his face from a passing dark-colored vehicle. The incident occurred late Monday night near 9th Avenue South and South Jackson Street, initially reported as a shooting, but police found no gunshot wounds. The victim was treated at the scene by Seattle Fire Department medics before being transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition. Witnesses and surveillance footage confirmed the involvement of a vehicle speeding away after the firework was thrown. The Seattle Police Department's Homicide and Assault Unit is leading the investigation and urges anyone with information to contact the Violent Crimes Tip Line. Authorities remind the public that fireworks are illegal in Seattle and encourage reporting illegal use to prevent further injuries.
