Jordanian Mobile Bakery Becomes Sole Bread Source in Gaza Amid Food Crisis

Jordan's mobile bakery, delivered to Gaza in December and operated in partnership with the World Central Kitchen (WCK), has become the last functioning bakery in the territory after Israel's blockade halted humanitarian aid, including flour. Forced to relocate repeatedly due to Israeli evacuation orders that now cover much of Gaza, the bakery operates at reduced capacity because of limited supplies, producing fewer loaves than needed to meet demand. Previously, the World Food Programme ran 25 bakeries supplying bread to 800,000 people, but all have closed due to the blockade, deepening the food crisis. The bakery distributes bread to medical staff, displaced families, and emergency workers, but aid workers say its output is only a fraction of what is required amid ongoing conflict and shortages. Jordan's broader humanitarian response also includes field hospitals and ongoing relief deliveries. Meanwhile, international organizations and local groups have condemned Israel's restrictions, calling for urgent global action to address starvation and humanitarian needs in Gaza.
