Fatal Crash Claims Nelons Members
Three members of the acclaimed gospel group The Nelons—Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason Clark, and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler—were among seven people killed in a plane crash in Wyoming while en route to a performance on the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska. The crash also claimed the lives of Amber's husband Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa. The sole surviving member of the group, Autumn Nelon Streetman, who was not on the plane, expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received. Preliminary investigations by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) suggest an autopilot issue may have caused the crash. The incident also sparked a wildfire near the crash site, which has since been contained. The Nelons were a celebrated quartet with a rich legacy in gospel music, including multiple Dove Awards and Grammy nominations.
