Former UK Minister Lord Darzi Robbed of £175,000 Watch on Capri

Lord Ara Darzi, a renowned surgeon, British peer, and former health minister, was robbed of his rare and valuable Richard Mille watch worth approximately £175,000 to £200,000 while on holiday on the Italian island of Capri. The theft occurred as he and his friends were walking along the upscale Via Vittorio Emanuele near the island's main piazza, shortly before they were to return to their yacht. Two men grabbed the watch from Lord Darzi’s wrist and escaped via a waiting motorboat after fleeing on foot through the Gardens of Augustus and down Via Krupp. Lord Darzi was unharmed but described the incident as deeply unsettling, noting that the watch was a gift from a patient’s father whose life he had saved. Capri’s mayor expressed sympathy and emphasized that such crimes are rare on the island, promising to increase security measures. Police are investigating using CCTV footage and have released images of the suspects.
