Jared Harris on Harry Potter

Jared Harris, son of the late Dumbledore actor Richard Harris, has openly expressed his skepticism regarding HBO's upcoming Harry Potter reboot, stating, "I don’t understand. The films were fantastic – leave them alone." While he declined the opportunity to portray Dumbledore himself, he acknowledged that the series could explore more of the storytelling found in the books due to its longer format. The reboot, set to premiere in 2026, is designed to adapt one book per season and has already begun casting for its lead characters, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. The creative team includes Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod, known for their work on Succession. In contrast, actor Gary Oldman has expressed interest in returning to the Wizarding World, possibly taking on the role of Dumbledore in the future.
