Monsoon Floods Devastate North India and Pakistan

Severe monsoon rains have triggered devastating flash floods and cloudbursts across northern India and Pakistan, expanding to include Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand, where a cloudburst along the Yamunotri National Highway swept away eight to nine Nepali-origin road workers and blocked highways. In Himachal Pradesh, over 250 people were rescued from flood-hit Dharamshala, with several fatalities and ongoing searches for missing individuals. Jammu and Kashmir experienced deadly flash floods and landslides, disrupting the Vaishno Devi pilgrimage and claiming the lives of children. In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, at least seven people died in Swat River floods, with ongoing rescue operations for missing tourists and heightened warnings of further flooding. Authorities have issued red alerts, relocated families, and advised the public and pilgrims to avoid rivers and low-lying areas. Relief and rehabilitation efforts continue as officials monitor the risk of further landslides and heavy rains across the region.
