Russia Warns Germany of Direct War Involvement Over Taurus Missiles

Russia has warned that if Germany supplies Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine and they are used to strike Russian targets, it would consider this as Germany's direct participation in the war, potentially leading to serious consequences for Berlin. The warning follows statements by Germany’s incoming chancellor, Friedrich Merz, expressing openness to supplying Taurus missiles to Kyiv, a move previously opposed by outgoing chancellor Olaf Scholz. Merz emphasized that any decision should be coordinated with Germany's European allies, noting that Britain, France, and the US are already providing similar weaponry to Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly criticized Western support for Ukraine with long-range weapons, arguing it escalates the conflict and enables strikes deep into Russian-held territory. The Kremlin has also highlighted the risk of further escalation if Germany proceeds, while British officials have pledged support for Berlin if it decides to send the missiles.
