Napoli Drops Darwin Núñez, Pursues Udinese Striker Lucca

Napoli has ended its pursuit of Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez due to disagreements over transfer fees and has shifted focus to Udinese forward Lorenzo Lucca as their main striker target. Despite Nunez's openness to a transfer to Serie A, Liverpool seeks a substantial fee, and Napoli's interest waned while also waiting on Victor Osimhen's potential exit. Nunez, who struggled for playing time under Liverpool's new head coach Arne Slot and scored only seven goals last season, is no longer in the club's plans and is expected to leave this summer. Although Saudi clubs have shown interest, Nunez is reportedly holding out for a move within Europe, with AC Milan and Saudi side Al-Hilal also linked. Napoli's new deal for Lucca is reportedly worth up to €35 million, a more affordable option compared to Nunez. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the collapse of the Nunez-Napoli deal but noted that Nunez still has significant offers and is expected to depart Liverpool soon.
