Texas Tech Police Officers Shot, Suspect Killed on Campus in Lubbock

A person was killed and two Texas Tech University police officers were injured in a shootout early Tuesday morning in a campus parking lot near Jones AT&T Stadium. Officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle when the suspect exited the car, produced a gun, and opened fire on them. The officers returned fire, fatally shooting the suspect at the scene. Both officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital, where they are in stable condition. The Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, and the identities of those involved have not yet been released.
