Universities Announce Hall of Fame Classes, Honors

This week several college sports recognitions were announced or held: Alabama saw Essence Cody named Second Team All-SEC and Zabien Brown earn Lott IMPACT Trophy Week 8 honors after a 99‑yard pick‑six. South Carolina had preseason news — juniors Joyce Edwards and senior Ta’Niya Latson were voted Preseason All‑SEC First Team, the Gamecocks were picked to finish second, and the team opens unofficially Oct. 24 vs. Anderson. The University of Miami announced its 2026 Sports Hall of Fame class of 10, led by Duke Johnson and coach Mark Richt, who will be honored on the field Nov. 15 at Hard Rock Stadium and at an induction banquet in spring 2026. The University of South Carolina will induct six former student‑athletes into the 2025 USC Lettermen’s Association Hall of Fame on Oct. 23, with on‑field recognition planned for Oct. 25. Separately, the 1975 Mitchell Marauders, including running back Jerry Scott, were enshrined at the 25th Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame in a ceremony celebrating their state title season.
