Chrystul Kizer, a Milwaukee woman who claimed she killed her alleged sex trafficker in self-defense, was sentenced to 11 years in prison for reckless homicide after pleading guilty. Kizer, who shot Randall Volar in 2018 when she was 17, argued that Volar had been exploiting her for sex since she was 16. Despite her defense based on Wisconsin's 2008 state law protecting trafficking victims from prosecution, prosecutors contended that such protections should not extend to homicide.
