Portland Firefighters Rescue 28 Trapped Riders at Oaks Park on Opening Day

Emergency crews in Oregon rescued 28 people after they were stuck upside down for about 30 minutes on the AtmosFEAR ride at Oaks Park. The ride malfunctioned on Friday afternoon, prompting park staff to call 911. Portland Fire and Rescue, in collaboration with park engineers, manually lowered the ride to evacuate the riders, all of whom were medically evaluated with no serious injuries reported. One individual with a pre-existing condition was taken to the hospital as a precaution. The ride, which has been operational since 2021 without prior incidents, will remain closed pending an investigation by the park, the ride's manufacturer, and state inspectors.
