Israel Foils Hamas Drone Assassination Plot Against National Security Minister

Israeli security agency Shin Bet foiled a Hamas plot to assassinate National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir using explosive-laden drones. The attempt occurred about two months ago near Ben-Gvir's residence in Kiryat Arba, prompting the evacuation of him and his family. Four members of a Hamas cell based in Hebron were arrested, with drones seized during the arrests. Ben-Gvir, a far-right minister known for his controversial stance and ties to the settler movement, has reportedly been targeted by Hamas multiple times before. The thwarted attack coincides with political discussions in Jerusalem led by Prime Minister Netanyahu and senior ministers, including Ben-Gvir, regarding the possible annexation of the West Bank, a move that remains internationally disputed. Shin Bet affirmed its commitment to preventing terrorist activities against Israel and its citizens.
