Forest Lose 3-2 to Midtjylland at City Ground
Nottingham Forest lost 3-2 at the City Ground to FC Midtjylland in the Europa League, in the club’s first European home match since 1996. The defeat left manager Ange Postecoglou winless in his first six games since his Sept. 9 appointment and prompted supporters to chant for his sacking and praise predecessor Nuno Espírito Santo while owner Evangelos Marinakis watched. The result intensified scrutiny of Postecoglou’s position ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle and a two-week international break, with the club set to assess his future and the team at risk of dropping into the bottom three if poor results continue. Midtjylland, viewed as a physical, direct side with a set-piece threat, punished Forest’s lapses at key moments to secure the win. Postecoglou said he was unfazed, acknowledged fans’ disappointment, and insisted progress must be measured by wins.
