Applied Materials Partners with Apple, Texas Instruments to Expand US Semiconductor Manufacturing with $200M Arizona Investment
Applied Materials is collaborating with Apple and Texas Instruments to strengthen U.S. semiconductor manufacturing by supplying American-made chipmaking equipment from its Austin, Texas facility to Texas Instruments’ U.S. factories. The partnership supports the production of foundational semiconductors used in Apple products and aligns with Apple's $600 billion American Manufacturing Program commitment. Applied Materials is also investing over $200 million to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Chandler, Arizona, focused on producing critical components for semiconductor equipment, creating approximately 200 jobs over five years. This new investment builds on more than $400 million Applied has invested in its U.S. manufacturing infrastructure over the past five years, expanding its footprint across Texas, Massachusetts, Montana, and Arizona. Executives from Applied Materials and Apple emphasized the importance of this initiative in bolstering U.S. semiconductor leadership, especially amid the growing demand for advanced chips driven by AI technologies. The collaboration reflects a broader national effort to reduce dependence on foreign manufacturing and enhance domestic technological innovation.
