Shannen Doherty finalized her divorce from Kurt Iswarienko just one day before her death at age 53. Despite a contentious legal battle, Doherty agreed to a 'default or uncontested dissolution' of their marriage and waived her right to spousal support. Court documents indicate that Iswarienko signed the agreement on July 13, the day Doherty passed away. Her representative Leslie Sloane confirmed that Doherty died after a long battle with stage IV breast cancer. Friends and representatives have criticized Iswarienko, alleging he delayed the divorce proceedings, hoping Doherty would pass before he had to pay spousal support. Iswarienko's attorney has denied these claims, stating he wanted the best for Doherty.
