Intel Enters Risk Production for 18A Node, Panther Lake Chips Ahead

Intel has officially entered the risk production stage for its 18A process node, a significant milestone announced at the Intel Vision 2025 conference. This stage indicates that the company is transitioning from small-scale production to preparing for mass manufacturing, with plans to produce thousands of wafers. The 18A node is pivotal for Intel's Panther Lake processors, expected to launch in 2026, and aims to position the company competitively against TSMC's 2nm technology. Senior VP Kevin O'Buckley emphasized that this phase is crucial for refining manufacturing processes and ensuring product viability.
