Two Fatal Memorial Day Crashes Kill Women, Injure Others in Florida
Two fatal crashes occurred on Memorial Day in Florida, leading to the deaths of two women and multiple injuries. In Titusville, Olivia Maggs, a 32-year-old nurse and mother, was killed when a Ford F-150 suffered a tire blowout and struck her van on I-95 near Pineda Causeway; her three children were seriously injured and airlifted to a hospital. A GoFundMe campaign was launched to support Maggs' family amid their long recovery. In Port St. Lucie, a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Northwest Glades Cut Off Road and Northwest Commerce Center Drive resulted in the death of 72-year-old Joan Latowski, a passenger in a BMW; the driver, John Latowski, is in critical condition. Authorities determined that the Kia driver, Cierra Lloyd, failed to yield the right of way, causing the crash, and no signs of impairment were found in either driver. Police continue to investigate the Port St. Lucie crash and are seeking witnesses or video footage to assist in their inquiry.
