Jeff Torborg Dies at 83 in New Jersey
Jeff Torborg, a former major league catcher and manager, has died at the age of 83 in his hometown of Westfield, New Jersey. Torborg had an illustrious career in baseball, initially as a player for the Los Angeles Dodgers and California Angels, during which he caught three no-hitters. After retiring as a player, he transitioned to management, leading five MLB teams, including the Cleveland Indians, Chicago White Sox, and New York Mets. Notably, he was named American League Manager of the Year in 1990 after an impressive season with the White Sox. Torborg also served a decade as a coach with the New York Yankees and worked as a sportscaster. In his later years, he battled Parkinson's Disease.
