Back-to-School Events Provide Supplies, Support to Thousands Across US

Across various U.S. communities, back-to-school events are providing essential supplies and support to students from low-income families to prepare them for the new academic year. In Detroit, a Back-2-School store, started in 2014 and now serving 900 children, offers brand-new clothes, books, and supplies, funded by a year-long fundraising effort by the National Council of Jewish Women Michigan. Wichita Falls' Project Back to School, active since 2009, has helped up to 9,000 students by distributing backpacks and supplies, while also providing access to community resources and immunizations. Florissant's 15th Annual Resource Fair and Backpack Giveaway offers free school supplies, food, and information on services such as Medicare, Medicaid, and job training to support families. Additionally, in Hopkins County, church volunteers are preparing color-coordinated backpacks for qualifying families to distribute at the upcoming Back to School Fair. These initiatives highlight widespread community efforts to alleviate the financial burden of school preparations and foster student confidence and independence.
