Landmine Explosion Kills Four, Injures Four in Upper Kurram District

A landmine explosion in the Pewar Sharamkhel area of Upper Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed four people and injured four others who were collecting firewood near the mountains. The victims died on the spot, and the injured were initially treated in Parachinar Hospital before being referred to Peshawar. District Police Officer Habibullah confirmed the blast and stated that police and bomb disposal teams are investigating the incident and conducting a search operation due to fears of additional landmines in the area. Tribal elders condemned the attack, calling it an attempt to sabotage peace efforts in the region, which has a history of sectarian conflict between Shiite and Sunni communities. No group has claimed responsibility, but the incident comes amid a fragile ceasefire brokered by local elders. Security forces have cordoned off the area to prevent further casualties.
