Caroline Dubois Crowned WBC Lightweight Champion
Caroline Dubois has been elevated to the full WBC lightweight world champion following Katie Taylor's decision to vacate the belt. Taylor, who had held the title since 2019, had not fought at lightweight since 2022. Dubois, who became interim champion by defeating Maira Moneo in August, will make her first defense against Jessica Camara on January 11, 2024, in Sheffield. Dubois, who boasts a 10-0 professional record, expressed her excitement about becoming a world champion and sees this as the beginning of her journey. Her promoter, Ben Shalom, has high expectations, believing she will become the future face of women's boxing. The WBC lightweight belt was presented to her by WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman during the body's annual convention in Hamburg.
