Indian Oil Corp. Ltd. (IOC) is expanding its Digboi refinery in Assam, India, from 650,000 tpy to 1 million tpy, utilizing indCoker technology, with a completion target of March 2026 at a cost of 7.68 billion rupees. The initiative is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's plan to boost the region's municipalities. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the historical prosperity of Dibrugarh, emphasizing the neglect by previous governments and the current efforts to enhance infrastructure and expand the refinery's capacity. The expansion aims to meet rising petroleum product demand until 2040 and is a significant step towards revitalizing the region's economy through increased industrialization and youth employment.
